Who we are

BookDawg is operated by Dan Friske (Daniel A. Friske), a sole proprietor in Eagle, Idaho, doing business as BookDawg. We help small service shops turn a missed call into a customer request. Contact: [email protected].

What we collect

When you send a message through the “Contact us” form on a shop's website, we email your name, email address, phone number (if you give one), city and message to that shop, using our email provider, Resend. We don't save your message in BookDawg. We keep a record that the email was sent (with the shop's address masked) and a scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address, which we use to limit how many messages one address can send in a day. Sending this form does not sign you up for texts.

How we use it

We use this to send your request to the shop, text you about that request, and alert the owner. We do not use it for advertising.

SMS / text messages

BookDawg sends text messages from the shop's number, +1 (208) 314-3366.

Customers. The shop's phone number is run by BookDawg. When the shop can't pick up, you hear one short recorded line and the call ends. If no one can take your call, we text you once with a link to send us your request, and after that only about that request. We also reply if you text the shop first. Phone numbers entered on web or QR forms are never texted. Texts come from that same number. They are the link to send your request, a note that it was received, a notice if the shop cancels it, and replies about your request.

Shop owners. Shop owners get new-request alerts after they add their own mobile number in BookDawg settings.

Message frequency varies: usually one text after a missed call, then only updates about your request. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as our text-message provider Twilio, is permitted. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Texts are sent through Twilio, which delivers the message. When you open a shop's request link, Cloudflare Turnstile may check that you're a person, not a script, processing technical details from your browser to do that check. None of these — Twilio, Resend, or Cloudflare — are given your information to market to you.

How long we keep it

Request records stay with the shop so they can do the work. Opt-out (STOP) is kept so we do not text that number from that shop again. Ask us to delete your data at [email protected].
